Patchinko colours.

#1 Post by ian 123 »

Hi all, Im looking to buy my first patchinko today but havent a clue what colour to go for. Am i right in thinking that it just matters what colour the belly is since its a surface lure? If anyone could shed some light on what their favourite patchinko colour is I would greatly appriciate it. Many thanks,Ian

Hi Ian

As with all lures i try to keep colours as natural as possible. there is a sandeel/whiting colour in the patchinko that has worked well for me.

Belly colour is not the only consideration on a surface lure bearing in mind that the lure tilts and rolls as it is being retrieved and indeed the patchinko does a nifty little swoop under the water when jerked hard.

I try to steer clear of shiny glossys and defo blues and greens.

I know lads are gonna come on here now and say that they love the blue j 13 and the green whatever etc but it is a preference thing and i suppose it goes back to your level of confidence in the colour as you fish it. If you dont have full confidence in the lure and the colour you may well reduce your chances of a hook up.

Keep it au natural if you can, this way you cant go wrong and maybe wont feel like you have to have a few different colours of the same lure.

While lure colour is important for bass fishing i dont think it is vital. unlike seatrout who i find are extremely sensitive to lure colour. Even so far as having a colour preference from flowing to ebbing tide on the same mark.

Went with the "sandeel" patchinko and had alot of fish on it during the summer,, its minus 2 eyes and a bit battered after its escapades, I had the same mentality as lure fisher to keep the colours neutral when possible however when fishing during the summer was a bright day may have had an effect but the chartreuse/yellow patchinko fished its socks off and I hadn't half as much action on the sandeel colour so the next patchinko for me will be the yellow and probably a the sandeel one aswell just to have a bit of variety. Have a look at some of the jersey boys videos on youtube!! Anyways its a lethal surface lure and whatever colour you go for youl get fish on it...

Do you know the "small" patchinko ? A great lure .You can use it by calm condition .
It is the supplementary benefit of the patchinko.

I've had great success with the sandeel colour and the ghost version.

I haven't had any luck with the Frosty yet.
