#1 Post by bokofinn »

People:Myself

Duration:0300hr to 0600hr

Tide:0600hr

Weather:mild

Bait:Mackeral , sprat .

Rigs:3+2 hook flappers

Results:1 salmon , 3 flounder

Report:Its being a while now since i got to culdaff due to the weather. got set up aroud three o clock and i was just sitting down and the rod went mad , hopped up and after a short spell i had my first salmon from the sea , it weighed just over 6lb , it went back to sea again the flounder were`nt so lucky . got plenty of big knocks on the rod hooked up once more but lost the fish on the last wave in . all in all it was a great wee sess . for future reference do i need a liecence for salmon also or is it just sea trout that liecence is needed for ?

Thats some going catching a Salmon in the sea mate. You definately need a game license to keep a Salmon, wouldn't imagine it will be a common occurance though.

All you need for salmon and sea trout at Culdaff is a Lough's Agency licence, £16 for the year, hard to beat. That allows you to fish the Culdaff River too as far as I know.

If you're sure it was a salmon, stick to your guns. Stranger things have happened- I caught a 4 lb seatrout off the beach on a bluey head pennel rigged with hooks that would fear you(last cast with the very last of bait- boy did that pay off).
