got a pack in the post and its as they say just slight damage to the packing not bad for $15 all in

brought 2 1500 yard spools back from the states 20lb and 50lb cost $100 each the guy says he can sent them to ireland ill see if i can find his address

What does 20lb braid compare to again for mono? Would this be similar to 8lb or 10lb mono? Seems like a great price and tempted to order some also!

it claims in the ad that 20lb braid has same diameter as 6lb mono either way its a top brand braid, the ebay seller has lots of different diameters in his "other items for sale"

here is another link to the same braid at it proper price, and at the bottom of the add it states that it is the same diameter as 3lb mono

Is it ok / possible to tie braid to braid to put on the reel? Just noticed the 20 lb braid from first eBay seller mentioned is only 150yd which doesn't seem like enough for my spinning reel which currently has around 230 odd yards of the same type of braid loaded.

put 10lb mono on first about 50 yards or a little less then tie your braid on remember underfill your spool to avoid wind knots

Yes you have to watch that pricing up braid, 150yds and the 300yds spools!
For a spinning reel and light beach work 150yds is fine, best way is to start with an empty reel, wind on the 150yds of braid, tie on a backing mono of 15-20lb using a uni to uni knot (5 turns on the mono and 12 turns on the braid) and top the spool up, don't overfill the spool.
Wind the mono off onto another reel or spool, wind the braid off onto another reel or spool, then put the length of mono onto the reel as the backing, re-tie the uni to uni to the braid and wind back on the reel.
I think that's the easiest way :roll:

Get an empty mono spool put a longish bolt through the centre of the spool tighten a nut on to hold spool tight and get out your electric drill :wink:

Done that before many times, I either get to much on or not enough, found the other way quicker in the long run.

Got one of those rigged up Jim, you need to be careful though, the other week I got a snatch and it wrapped around the shaft, not good :!:

luckily it was some old stuff :wink:

battery drill now.
