Keeping lug overnight.
Hi all when I dig lug I keep them in a plastic bucket and bring them home and keep overnight in the shed. Do I keep them in the bucket with sand over them or water or wet seaweed. I dont have a fridge in the shed and my queen wont let me use the one in the kitchen. Thanks all.
Ya should a been here last week.

when you get them home seperate any cut or injured 1s from whole ones then wrap the whole 1s by the score in fresh news paper and put them on the garage floor. a cold concrete garage floor will keep them cool for a day or two or if not a cool bag would be even better

if its a timber shed they will freeze with the weather at the moment. if it is put them up the attic if you can. it will be cold up there but not as cold as outside.

Re: Keeping lug overnight.
as said above, keep the damaged and dead ones seperate from the good ones, wrap them in news paper ,about ten in each sheet.dont put the packs on top of each other as if they leak it will kill the ones underneath.lie them out on the concrete floor of the garage ,should be ok for a few days but keep checking any dead ones remove them and keep seperate.if keeping for more than a few days change the news paper every day.

Invest in a coolbox; will stop them freezing in winter and add coolpacks for when it warms up.
Also helps maintain a constant temperature which is essential for keeping any worms.
