Teelin Rocks, 19th Oct

#1 Post by pete »

Fished from 6.00pm to 10.00pm and finished up with two conger to 7lb, a dogfish and a pollock...oh yeah and a starfish too Poor enough session, only one of the fish was caught in darkness. Expected a better showing once the light went but apart from small stuff cleaning the hooks there was nowt.

Both Phil. Rod in close in the rough and two out on the clean. The clean was very dead and no sign of the gurnards or usual suspects. Fished one with rod with four razors on a pennel rig in the vain hope of a codling, which while not catching any codling did prove a hit with the starfish.

Phil,
Its towed regularly, a small trawler based in Teelin always finishes his day by towing right up the mouth of the bay. Great to watch when your fishing of the rocks!

Nice variety of mini-species on the rough alright, didn't bother with them on Wednesday nite, was hoping for the whiting

hi mark,

contacted one of the guys there tonight, to the best of his memory -
red gurnard
tub gurnard
grey gurnard
dragonet
coalfish
pollack
ballan wrasse
cuckoo wrasse
tadpole fish
conger
lsdogfish
poor cod
pouting

i went over with them this july past and one day we had all of these species minus the tadpole fish that day but plus launce and mackerel and weever. - not bad going as we only had a maximum of 4 rods fishing between us at any one time, 2 out on sand and 1 in close for wrasse etc and 1 for conger.
i do beleive if you went species hunting and scaled the gear down for more mini species etc that 20 species in the day would be possible from this mark.
cracking venue, cant wait to get back again although if the fishing aint great at the minute ill maybe wait till summer again.
dont wanna miss a chance of a cod though if they get them here during the winter!!
