what i do is match the piece to the size of hook your using, thread the piece up a baiting needle, use bait elastic to wrap it to make a nice sausage like bait and then slide it up the hook, theres loads of ways but thats just one i found handy

I use it with lug normally. I cut a strip about the same size as the lug and hook one and line the rest back along the worms and wrap it with bait elastic. If using big baits a pennel hook will hold the bait up along the snood.

What i do is just wrap the razor with thread in a sausage shape before you put it on the hook, you can easily cut it then to required size. Then just thread it onto the hook and secure it with another couple of turns of thread.

in essence this style of presentation is identical to chris's, its more aimed for smaller baits for the likes of flounder, whiting, dabs, coalies, small codling, schoolies etc... for bigger fish simply use a bigger hook and bigger bait. its a pretty good bait, works wonders for bass on a surf beach and is great for scratching after a good blow. fresh razor is ok but stinky razor is best, refreeze as many times as you want.

im not familiar with your rig, but i presume your getting mixed up with a coarse angling baiting needle for hair rigs nd the like, as long as your using a hook this method will work.

1- get your tools for the job. in this pic i have the bare essentials, a gemini medium baiting needle, bait elastic, a hook attached to a snood, a scissors and most importantly a razor.

Image

2- using the foot of the razor, thats the long tough bit (the guts are also good for bait but are slightly more difficult to present because they tend be soft) cut a piece slightly bigger than the hook and cut it lenght ways in half so you get a long narrow bait.

Image

3- pop your bit of razor onto your baiting needle and using a fine bait elastic whip it on tight, try to make it nice, neat and compact. youl need thicker elastic if your gonna be using bigger baits for bigger fish.

Image

4- pop the hook into the baiting needle's socket and slide the bait onto the snood.

Image

5- theres your end product, a nice compact and neat bait ideal for scratching. the hook point should be standing out nice and proud.

if you are using it for small fish you can use it without bait elastic
deshell the whole razor and cut straight across the body an inch or so from the mouth, cut this lengthways into 4 stripps and hook once through the tough mouth part ,size 4 or 2 hook deadly for flats and coalies and wont come off the hook ,save the rest of the body for big baits with elastic 8)

Everywhere should have them but Henry's deffo does. I like the Mustad ones as the point is very sharp and they are long so you can have a few worms on together for big baits or if baiting a couple of hooks quick on a flapper.

no one of mine is taped to the tripod too, did that after carrying someone elses bag down a cliff and getting stabbed in the leg when the baiting neddle came though the bag
