Report:met up with bhoy32 for some peeler and set up, was hoping there would be a decent cod about after the bad weather the day before. Ive decided this would be my last cod session this season as its time to head back onto the beaches of west waterford and try get a bass. bites every cast but was using big hooks and lots of bait so missed heaps of small fish . best fish of the night was about 2.5lb 42cm. had one really powerfull take and run but struck out , now roll on the silver lads

Well done Seanie some cracking reports from youghal this season and some decent sized ones too. And ill be down soon ,have a week off end of march,so need a bit of west Waterford fishing

lovely codling seanie we have'nt seen one that size up here in almost 4 years that big bugger would eat one of the one's we've been catching for breakfast

The cod can breath a sigh of relief now that your not going after them anymore.
What's that noise? It's the bass shaking because they know your coming after them now instead!
I think your targeting the bass at just about the right time as it's starting to warm up abit more now. With the cold spell we've had things on the bass front have been quite slow as Frank would tell you.

The weather buoys M3 and M5 off the south coast are showing about 10.1C and 8.2C respectively but the inshore waters might be down to 5C or less. There has been a frost almost everynight for the last two months and when beaches are exposed at night the water temps drop as the tides flood. With the continuous frosts these have dropped dramatically, more so than anytime over the last few years. We might have to wait a bit longer for bass to venture in compared to normal .

hi j end of march is a good time to visit as for the eye on the ground didnt spot it myself but it looks surgicaly removed

dont think i will have much better luck frank just need a break from mini munchers

good observation pat was thinking what would be the optimum stage of tide where the water would be least affected by localized frost and i reckon the tide about 3 hours out, i am probably in for a few blanks

I reckon if you were to try on the bigger tides this weekend, an hour before LW, LW itself, and the first hour, you be giving yourself the best chance .
