Duration:3:30pm until 7:30pm

Tide:Rising Ht about 7:30pm

Weather:Raining a little at first but held off for the rest of the session. Not to cold either

Bait:Lug, mack, Razor and some mussle.

Rigs: 2 & 3 Hook flappers and pulley's for hit and hope casts.

Results:Codling, Coalie & Whiting




Report:Myself and Gordy decided to give Greystones a bash for some whiting. I had heard a few decent sized ones were taken last week and that was enough to get the mouth watering Our plans to dig bait were sidelined after I slept it out and then the rain was bucketing down. A few calls later and we were off to collect some in Bray.

We got down and set up using size 1's and 2 hooks trying to avoid some smaller pin whiting. We need not have worried. The fishing was very slow and thin all day. I had a nice Coalie on my first cast but nothing for an hour or so. We scraped a few fish between us over the hours but as dusk fell it never really kicked off. Gordy got a nice Whiting just shy of 30cm though so at least the target was achieved.

We packed up and headed for chips in the town and the lady in the chipper very nicely gave Gordy some batter for his whiting.

Yeah things are quiet but at least the fishing can only improve here on in. A few more spots should fish from the end of next month please God.

Nice try Conor but "just shy of 30cms" doesnt cut the mustard where whiting are concerned ,,,,,,,,,,,you know the rules,,,,,,,,,,,decent photo with the fish clearly passing the 30cm mark,,,,,,,not a fish held sideways on a blurry ruler . I have to admit that the hat is cool though ,,,,,,,,,,,,at least its better than those wooly ones with strings hanging down the sides that you all usually wear

Dave I got three of them hats for Christmas! But the whole cover the ears thing really works wonders! Not from the cold but pretending I cant hear people
