Report:
Due to the small numbers we headed for Ballylumford Pier, Island Magee instead of Carlingford Lough. The two legs of the pier are just right for four people giving us the best chance of fish at this time of year. The first hour was fishless but once the sun dropped below the Antrim hills the rods rattled. For 30 minutes the fish were nonstop till the crab started and for a further 2 hours we had nothing but treble shots of bait robbers. It was then we decided to move for our final 2 hours to Browns Bay and fish of the beach hopefully giving us a break from the crabs. Within 10 minutes we had moved and rods were in again, only this time to have instance rattles from pin whiting. Still it was better than crabs but eventually a few sizeable fish were landed with a double shot of Rockling from Adam. Even though it was cold enough to freeze the sand on the beach a good night was had by all.

good to see you stuck at it lads :P you can usually avoid the crabs down there by fishing in close when they come out in the channel  if you're on the right hand side of the mouth of the marina just flick out to the end of the wooden pillars in front of you and if your on the left hand side cast into the open patches of kelp onto the sandy clearings to your left about 15 yards out. you'll still get the odd fish without getting your bait robbed. mainly doggies,,, but still better than nothing :P :P
