People: Me and G McS

Duration: 6:30pm till 9:30pm

Tide: 13:57 (1.9m) 20:17 (4.5m)

Weather: Cold west cold westerly breeze

Bait: Black wrap, sand eel and mack

Rigs: 3 hook size 4s scratching rigs and odd distance 2 hook rig. Boom hanging size 4 rig.

Results: Had 9 whiting and 2 dabs nothing over 23cm. Gearoid had similiar in whiting

Report: Got whiting through out the session with the two dabs in a treble shot with black wrap tipped with mack. As the ebb flowed hard we got whiting casting to the side. My boom hanging rig was effective as always for whiting. About what I expected but had hoped for better quality flats as the biggest dab was only 16cm and would of liked the odd bigger whiting.

Well done lads,

Catching any size fish is enough to keep you warm on a cold day.

Last year the whiting were nearly swimming up the beach and giving themselves up, this year in about 10 sessions ive had no more than 5 whiting in total but huge numbers of small codling.
