Spinning reel
Hey lads, just wondering if anyone could recommend a decent spinning reel for lure fishing.I,m about to invest in one with a budget of between eur100-200approx.I want something that will be reliable and hold up when it s put through the paces.I have been looking at the Shimano Saragosas,The Sustain ,Twinpower...and right at the top of the scale the Stella
A push in the right direction appreciated.Thx Jay

Re: Spinning reel
I've been using a shimano stradic 4000 GTM RB. for the last three years and am well pleased with it,
I very rarely clean it (naughty!) but I do send it to Felindre at Swansea (Shimano autherised repair agents)
every year for a sevice.
Pete.

Still there clownfish when you get onto the site go in to coarse reels on the right then into shimano then scroll down through many reels you will find it. I ordered mine and was waiting a while (a couple of weeks) as they waited t get the reel from shimano. I didnt mind great price for great reel! I found ringing them better than email too pat

Re: Spinning reel
I'm only after seeing this post now and the front drag stradic would have got my vote too,
its a great little reel and I've never had any trouble with mine. I have a rear drag stradic also and whilst its a lovely reel its perhaps not quite as robust as the front drag version. As it happens I actually just replaced it with the saragosa 4000F. Its a little beefier and slightly larger/heavier than the stradic 4000FI with a slightly slower retrieve, apparently its 'saltwater approved' whatever that means but it does have a waterproof drag and shielded bearings. Either way I reckon the stradic is better value as its slightly cheaper and comes with a spare spool.
Rinse it under the tap after you use and keep it oiled and you shouldn't have any problems, its a cracking little reel.
