Myself, K2 and his brother & girlfriend all went down to the show yesterday.
There wasn't as many stands/exhibitors there that I thought there was going to be but those that where there had some good stuff on sale and we managed to bag ourselves a few bargains which was great.
I got to meet Henry Gilbey who I thought was so dead on and great to talk and very enthusiastic too as well as our very own Jim Hendrick off the site who was a true gent.
I also met up with a few other lads of the site - Danny M, carpets and eyesreilly, guys it was great to meet ya's.
I want to say a big thanks to Declan for posting us the ticket for the show, it was really appreciated.
Here is a couple of pictures from the show yesterday.

I dropped into the show on Saturday myself and like you say Kerry 1 there wast too many stands there, although I actually think I slightly preferred the set up of this show to the one in Swords despite the lack of shops. It wasn't too crowded and I actually thought having the lake just outside the front door with demos going on was great. I know it was more focused towards fly fishing but that didn't bother me as I like to chuck a bit of fluff from time to time. I have to say I really enjoyed meeting and have a chat with Henry Gilbey and Paul Young, both really sound lads. :D I think if it wasn't for the fact that I got to meet and chat to the two lads I probably would have been a little disappointed with the show. That said I still managed to get some great deals on a few fly rods :D as well as the obligatory stop of at Henry's to add to my ever growing lure collection. Hopefully there there will be a few more shops at it next year and the quality of the demonstrations and talks will be just as good.

God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.

Thanks again to Declan for the ticket.
Have to send an oul pint your way some time.

Great day out, learned a lot from talking to Jim, pure gentleman. Paul Youngs story about losing his rod while filming was very good. Henry Gilbey was enthuastic as ever, and watching the fly guys apply thier skill on the lake was quite impressive. The BASS stand was getting plenty of attention all day, which was a good sight.

Great to meet fellow members off the site Kerry1, K2 ( ye have a serious Lure additiction ! ) and eyesreilly ( must use that weetabix line sometime  )

Got some good deals up there too, my lure collection has expanded from 6 to 10 now

Great day out.

Danny.

Nice meeting up you yourself and K2 Paula  , as you said the celebs were really down to earth and friendly (the Codfather, Danny M , Carpets and Pat), and Henry and Paul Young (I have all his records, and i told him so  ) were true gents   . Venue was great, nice and roomy, relaxing to stroll around, I usually avoid crowds like the plague.

I have to agree with you there Dave, if it wasn't for the people who I met when I was there and who I chatted to throughout the day I would have found it very quite boring and would have headed home alot earlier than I did. This is the first year of the event so perhaps now next year more people will come on board and there will be more stands/exhibitors at it. I preferred it to the show in swords and like yourself thought it had a far better set up and line up of guest speakers. I'm into sea fishing and thought there was a good range of tackle there on sale to suit my needs which was good too.

Me too! We both purchased a few more lures as well (six in fact) which of course we didn't need but couldn't resist

Your right Danny, we do have a serious lure addiction but we can't help ourselves. We'll never get around to using half of them
It's a problem we have but a good problem
By the way, I forgot to mention that I met your friend Pat  Pat, if your reading this, sorry. It was great to meet you.

eyesreilly wrote:Venue was great, nice and roomy, relaxing to stroll around

I thought that too Dave, there was plenty of room to walk about without having to push through people to get past and you had easy access to all of the stands which was great.

I was just having a quick look a Henry's blog and spotted this, sound like anyone we know?

Met a load of people at the Dublin show on Sunday, with so many of them wanting to talk about bass, bass, and more bass (suits me just fine) - if we think interest in bass fishing is exploding here in the UK, it seems to be much the same over in Ireland. But with a whole lot more fish to catch. I met and talked to lots of keen anglers from all over Ireland, including the most wonderful couple who are completely addicted to their fishing - not only do they have some incredible sounding mullet fishing on their doorstep in Northern Ireland, they also make regular treks down to the Dingle peninsular to chase bass. I saw some photos of really big mullet they have been catching, and they tell me that there are far larger fish around. One for the to do list in a big way........
