Duration:9 till 2am

Tide:flood
Weather:windy at first clear

Bait:prawns and limpets

Rigs:kind of

Results:6 codling




Report: not bad considering i had no crab the prawns done the trick with an odd bite on the limpet. biggest fish about 2 lb. got it home and discovered a tag sticking out of his back, with a phone number and reward offered from marine institute of ireland...........bet ya the reward is a sage 9 weight :lol: :lol:

gutted it last nite at the waters edge. i think the 100 euro reward is for an electronic tag which im sure mine is not. ah well i could always stick the tag in a new fish :twisted:

Aww Seanie, that's a shame that you missed you on the chance to earn some dosh. If your bank balance is anything like mine at the minute you could have done with it!

Very interesting these fish are netted and tagged each year in the river Suir in Waterford our Juv. anglers get a few each Juv. competition I know of them paying out once to a Juv. angler who reported the tag number and returned the fish alive (we have no take for our Juv. competitions) you should still report the tag number so they know the movements around the coast of these very small coddling.

i took a photo of one last year, measured it and returned the tagged fish,
sent the relevant info on, and recieved a surprised cheque in the mail, :)

ive been in touch with the marine institute and sent them a pic, gave them the code over the phone and the fact its gutted seems to have no bearing on it cause their sending a guy over to collect it from my house :shock: :shock: :shock: :D
