People: myself and shamoo

Duration: 4 hours approx - 6-10pm

Tide: low 10pm

Weather: heavy continuous rain, cold gusty wind

Bait: lug and mac

Rigs: pulley and 3 hook flapper

Results: myself 15 small cod 1 coalie
shamoo 1 flounder, 1 rockling, 2 whiting, double figure cod?

Report: bit of a brutal night but we had it planned and headed out - couldnt access the point we wanted so set up right beside the van - which i spent most of my time sheltering on the inside of it

hands would go numb baiting up and by the time they thawed out it was time to rebait - repeat through the night

fish were fairly steady - no frenzy but maybe 1 blank cast and 1 catching cast - enough to keep us out in it

one of my cod broke 30cm and put a bit of a fight on my 9ft spining rod (how desparate am i now for kicks)

that was about it not much else to report - fishing didnt seem likely to change and the soaking and the cold was enough - called into my local for a few well deserved scoops

Well done, you had to go out and try anyway and by the sounds of things you did well to last as long as you did with the weather being the way it was.
I know what it feels like for your hands to go numb after baiting up, not nice at all.
Sounds like you had good fun using your lighter spinning gear but if there's not much else to give you your kicks you have to do that sort of thing to make it more interesting.
You ended the night well - in the pub, if that had've been me I might have just went there straight away instead of venturing out in the cold but that's just me, I'm a wimp!
You must be made off tougher stuff!
Actually I not doing myself any justice saying that - I did after all go out fishing over christmas in temperatures of -6  Nasty!

dont worry the thought of the pub was crossing my mind as i was loading the gear in the van in the rain - what are we like!

i was fishing in the minus temperatures over the christmas, but the wind from the east that wipped up with the freezing conditions in benone at the uslter open made me feel like that was the way everyday was for tom crean and co down in antartica
