Who: Me
Weather: Sunny
Time: 3 - 8pm ish
Tide: In then out
Bait: Lug/mussel
Results: 11 codling
When I got down to the beach the water was fairly brackish lokking, tide was in and a bit of a surf running. As I walked to the spot there was lots of weed and stuff washed up on the beach. Loads of golfballs washed up as well from the nereby golf clubs, so I bagged a few for myself. Set up first rod and csted out at distance. Went to set up second rod for fishing in close and what do ya know, in the rush to get out had forgotton to bring a second reel...,. so back into the rod bag with it.....!
Fishing was quiet for the first hr or so. As I was waiting for a bite I noticed what at first I thought was a cat walking along the beach down past the stream. Then it turned and bolted down into the surf by the rocks and disappeared out of sight.About 5 mins later it reapeared from the surf andd ran up the beach and into the undergrowth. Few mins later it re appeared and ran down into the surf again. Must of been an otter or a mink?
As the sun started to set the bites started coming.every two or three casts was getting a fish. All fish were very small, the biggest I would say being about 30 cms or so ( no measure with me). Ran out of bait bought 8 o'clock so packed up. No monsters caught but great to get out. Fishing should be alright for todays comp.

A few of the boys at the ECR comp a few weeks ago were collecting golf balls too (altough i suspect alby uses them rolling ball weights
) they were all over the place along with loads of washed up rubbish the beach looks a state at the moment. Was fishing down that way during the week plenty of codling about alright so should be a busy comp for the SAI lads.

I only kept the Titelist Pro V 1s Sod (€5 a pop). 4 of that exact brand & make washed up in front of my peg during the ECR Comp. Eric did a walk of the beach and picked up 13 balls along the stretch. I've been lucky enough to play golf in the European Club a couple of times, it's an amazing course, and easy to see why so many balls get sent seaward, it's a serious test of golf!

sounds like a sport where a load of people whack a small object down a field, and then walk after it to measure how far it went!bigsod wrote:dbrock wrote:whats golf![]()

nice fishing man, plenty to keep you entertained even if they were'nt too big. bet the otter was puzzled as hell by all the lovely sized eggs he found on the beach. just could'nt get into them
