Bass guide/gillie

Never felt comfortable reading about specimen hunters who live on a river bank for months and get in Anglers Mail with their catches. You are much the same. I hope that you declare your earnings from "ghillie work" for benefit and tax purposes....although knowing your sort I doubt it

MAC wrote:I think you'll do alright Poacher..... Thing about guiding though is that the fishing is normally for half day or a full day. Might be an idea to have a spot or two that produce on an outgoing tide as well. A lot of people looking for guides are into plugging or fly fishing so it would help to have a couple of spots for that type of fishing. You'll need slimmer flies for your regular spot, where normall Bass flies will work in most of the other areas around you.

This is an interesting thread, haven't fished with some of the best anglers in Europe including Bob Moss, who might I add have bought numerous bits of tackle off him over the years I find it hard to believe an unheard of Angler compare themselves or better themselves as you proclaim. Writing a book would mean everyone knowing your self proclaimed secret, hence your gillie idea taken a dive. If yours stats are true, then its unusual I have not heard of you, have you ever claimed a specimen? Well I think Ireland is too full of be grudgers and cynics for me to jump in so I accept your challenge. I propose a competition on a venue of your choice with a limited amount of anglers. If you produce these results then I would gladly recommend you to all my angling associates, if not then you have to accept your defeat publicly via this site, get a job and and keep the cynics happy? Deal? Who else is up for this?

i dont think anyone wanting to work as a ghille would be stupid enough to to start off by making very false claims so i'd tend to believe you (or maybe u r stupid :?: ). Fair play for getting that extra info noone else can seemingly get and managing to keep it secret and now offering others a service by sharing it for a modest price.(i hope)if all is true then good luck but i would be interested to know if any other forum members can back this up now.

You keep 45 bass each year ... isn't that a little excessive? If I ate two bass a week I'd never want to see another one again. :)
I love statistics.
most other anglers around here kill all they can catch
the ones i take are deep hooked i dont eat bass i give them to people

Ha ha, you know Art using a net is not classed as angling!!, only kidding, no I am fishing most weekends and work during the week. I suggest you set up a thread and arrange a date/venue, and allow the first 20 anglers or so to enter. Anymore than that and it may get messy or hard to figure out what you are doing. So the balls in your court, a date, a time and a venue. :D

in fairness robert if it is true you cant expect him to give away his hard earned knowledge to 20 people ( who didnt give him much of a chance) all at the same time for free just to prove himself. a couple should be plenty.
good look with the ghillie service and i hope this wee debate boosts your business.

True but if 20 anglers are fishing one area and Art prouduces all the fish then that to me would prove he has an "art" to behold hence rocket starting his Ghillie idea, which I have to say I would gladly pay for if he says he can produce these results.
Question also for you Art, have you ever put your magic technique to use on a boat or is it just Shore angling?
