bray head 30-1-10

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:me ,eric and gordy

Duration:6.30 till 10.30

Tide:loooooow and rising

Weather:ok

Bait:lug squid crab mack and mussel

Rigs:pullys and conger

Results:    one nice rockling and nearly one nice lobster

Report:with fishing from the beaches a bit slow and poor we hatched a plan to fish a rock mark off bray head for cod and conger 8) hoping that the big tides and deep water with big boulders and kelp beds would see us hauling a few decent fish out of the murky depths, after a nice hike and some rockhopping we set up and waited in anticipation ,and waited and waited and waited   another fine mess we got ouselves into :!: gordy got a nice rockling halfway through the session and at 10.30 we decided we had been defeated and hauled our gear,my rod had a nice bend in it as i lifted the rod and after a minute a fine lobster surfaced with my bait 8) in the last two meters before the rockface the backwash from a wave wolloped him and off he swam
well all i can say is my first blank of 2010 and another mark off my winter "to try list"

unlucky with the lobster man  . but you're not the only one blanking, me and dawsey inadvertantly wondered onto the back of an army firing range trying new spots during the week     nothing makes you move like the crack of live gunfire zipping over your head     should have realized they were blasting the parachute flares up to see who the 2 nutters were fishing off the back of their range     (note to self), don't try to find new marks to fish in the dark beside MOD land

Fair play to you Roger for going out and giving it a ago.
Don't worry about blanking, it happens to us all at some time (too often as far as I am is concerned but that's just me! lol:).
I've fished that area before while on holiday a few years ago down in both Bray & Greystones where we stayed and it is known for throwing up some decent fish from time to time.
Such a shame you lost the lobster but at least you seen it before it got off.
