Sorry bout poor quality of this report

Fished artificial worms on lowering tide, surprisingly warm weather. Got about 5 casts out b4 my first snag. this repeated and lost quiet a bit off tackle. Nothing seemed to be biting so left. Others were fishing too but nothing seemed to be caught :( Any one have any advice on how not to snag besides retrieving line quickly?

wellcome to the site yc,use a lead lift,it raises the lead up into the water when you retrieve, limiting the amount of rigs you lose, you can buy them in most tackle shops.

Did you try those marks I gave you? About the worms, you gotta fish them "texas style". You will need to buy different hooks to rig the worm on that allow the point to actually be fished while stuck in the worm - When the fish takes the hook is driven through the worm and hopefully into his gob :D This minimises losses due to the hook getting caught on snags because it will usually fish through them. Best resource for this kind of fishing is Youtube. All the info you will need on how to thread the worm etc can be found. The americans specialise in fishing the hook inside the plastic worm because the fish they are targetting ie large mouth bass are usually in amongst dead trees and other snags. Fish the lead on a three way swivel or a swivel running on your main line and use a short dropper, if you are fishing lets say 15lb main line then make your lead dropper out of 10lb, this is then a weak link and will give first saving the rest of the cast. A few granny nots never hurt either. Not completely foolproof but it does go along way to saving you tackle and time setting up again! Church bay is renound for being a tackle graveyard so you are gonna loose some gear while fishing it. Hope these suggestions help you :)
Ah yes, 1974, The Cod Wars. I hated Cod so of course I signed up straight away.
