Even more West Coast bass

People:Myself joined by three lads from Lancashire

Duration:3-8pm for me, the others are probably still there

Tide:rising

Weather: calm bright and cold

Bait:lug mac sandeel

Rigs: pullies for me

Results: 2 bass for me, loads of small stuff for the lads




Report:
I had arranged to meet the lads at a now very popular West Coast mark, I dug some worm for them and set up. shortly after setting up the second rod, a small schoolie took a sandeel at distance.
I helped the lads to set up and they were soon into coalies, whiting and flatties. I had a slightly better bassImage Not long after that my headlamp started to die, as the lads were deperate to catch a bass I gave them some pulley rigs with bigger hooks in the hope that they might be a little more selective than the tree hook flappers they were using.

I left them to it and hope they got their bass as they are on the ferry back home tonight.

brilliant - nice to see consistent catches in the west - next few ya get send them back and ask them to keep swimming north till they reach sligo :-)

Well done on the Bass Neil 8) 8) I met the lads there on Weds they were still fishing away when we were packing up shame they didn't connect with any Bass.... hopefully they managed to pull it out of the bag in the end.

:) A nice bassy start to the year for you, congrats. Very interesting that there are now small schoolies around in the west in January, used to be only the odd big browser that hung around until this time.

nice fishing neil. hopefully it's a good sign for what's to come with the bass showing up in better numbers on the west coast :P :P . did the other lads manage a bass before they left?

Well done on the bass - the west coast seems to be where they have all moved to alright :!: :!:

I would hope that they did, conditions were as close to perfect as Ive seen. They had a long trip home and I havent spoken to them yet. They were very happy with their trip over here, and the advice they got from Saltydog earlier in the week helped them on their way. Its nice to meet lads who are so keen, I think they are planning a summer trip already.

I'm looking forward to the Spring tide at the weekend :D :D
