People: Me
Duration: 4:30pm till 7:45pm
Tide: 12:58 (0.8m) 19:15 (4.6m)
Weather: SW wind and mild. Clearish sky
Bait: Some black lug, eel, mack and squid
Rigs: 2/0 penel pulleys and size 4 3 hook clipped and unclipped
Results: A rockling and fairly small dab
Report: I starting back with reports and I have gobsheens that put me off last time with stupid comments banished to the foe section. So If I ignore some stupid comments from now on then you know whats happened.
I meant to fish another pier to fish for Dabs as conditions were good but there were a few there already. I haven't really fished here much so don't know much about the mark. I fished the pulley in case there was something larger and so that I wouldn't have to rebait to often so I could concentrate on keeping the small hooks baited. In the end there was very little crab activity and at high water with the baits were untouched.
The tide started pulling just before darkness around 5:30 and I was getting bites on the larger hooks to small fish. Got this double shot and a couple more bites. Fairly poor session.

Have fished the pier quite a few times in september, catching ray, huss, dog and straps. stoped fishing there 2 years ago as we were losing gear on a snag poss a rope or chain preventing tackle being retrieved. It must be very cold there in winter, used to reverse my van right up to the end and fish out of the back. What side did you fish we have tried both but found the steps side better. Nice to see you reporting again, nice to hear what real anglers are doing up there

Re: Glin pier, Co. Limerick, 17-Jan-2009
It was a fairly mild night for January and thermals and two Jumpers makes things warmer. I fished over the wall as there seemed to be deeper water there. You can't drive out on the pier anymore as there is a bollard opposite the shelter. I'd generally prefer to fish off of shore marks around september but for winter with small fish a pier allows for lighter gear to be used.

i used to fish the small piers along that stretch when i was wee and from what i remember they were quite prolific for flats.
