More West Coast Bass 20.01.10

#1 Post by saltydog »

People: vinnycorrigan & myself

Duration: 15:30 - 22:30

Tide: HT @ 20:00

Weather: Dry wind from the South F2/3

Bait: wraps, razor, squid, mackerel sandeel

Rigs: Various

Results: Bass, Flounder, Coalies, Pollack

Report: Got a txt from vinny to say he was back in town after his trip State side. So we set off for Clare for some Bass. Arrived at the mark to find surf up :) wasn't as much surf as I was hoping for but enough to put us in with a chance. I dropped a Bass early on :( and vinny who was fishing his new Bass rod in the suds with a rolling lead had a Bass follow as he was reeling back in fins out of the water 8) but it turned away  .... game on at least they were in the area. I was in not to long after that with a Bass Flounder double 8) followed by vinny with a small pollack. I starting racking up the coalies vinny was picking a few off too. vinny then had a Bass Coalie double 8) I had a few treble shots of Coalies and another Flounder. Then just as the light dropped i got a double shot of Bass 8) We fished on coalies and a few small pollack coming in fairly regularly. Mick Curtain joined us for the last few hours he had dropped Bass and good few Coalies. There were some visiting anglers at the other end of the beach who i'd been talking to earlier in the day i checked in with them later in the evening to see how they were getting on they plenty of Coalies small Pollack and a couple of whiting but no Bass unfortunately. Things were quiet for the last hour with the Coalies not hitting as frequently but all in all a good session with plenty of fish. I'm not sure what vinny finished up with he can add his tally. I ended up with 3 Bass 3 Flounder and 15 coalies.

A great night out gents, congratulations :D If the mark's the place I suspect it is, I once spent 5 months living in a caravan there and actually got bored catching them.... A long time ago, mind you, before the bass stocks got hammered.
