blame talk here is total rubbish (no pun...an all that) bring a bag with you and take it home.
all you brought to the beach bar yer footprints!
now thats not hard to do.
i must say i arrived at a mark last year and did a complete turn-around as i couldn't handle the clean-up or shame of being associated with angling in this area, there was even a bin beside the axcess area! saying that the green park area was worse but thats no excuse!
this issue will change the rules of angling for everone,
not sure if there is one but i think a sticky on rubish policy will keep this highlighted.

I note that both COYSER and bigsod find my posting hilarious. However, If they had taken the time to read the post correctly they would have saw that I referred to house hold waste and not litter or waste left behind by anglers who have no regard for the environment.
The point I was making is that not all waste discarded on or around fishing marks is left behind by irresponsible anglers.
Illegal dumping, no matter from what source, should not be tolerated, let alone laughed about. And I’m sure, all responsible anglers on this site will agree with this.

I dont' think bait suppliers should be blamed or held responsible for bait containers that are left behind and litter the beached. The containers are handy and keep the bait fresh. They sell them as a part of a product. They only become litter when the person that purchases them chucks them on the beach.

i dont think it's ok to leave any kind of rubbish after you have been fishing.
But i would be happier seeing a bit of news paper, That will easily brake down by natures forces left on a beach or pier by a TOSSER rather than a plastic container that could take decades to brake down.

In agreement with John as well, always see the containers strewn around on beaches and piers, newspaper breaks down, not condoning leaving the newspaper either but its better than the containers.

just another point on the news paper thing, my late father was a professional lug digger starting back in the mid 70's to 90's wrapped all of his lug in the evening press newspaper
my point is i have yet to see a piece of paper with old head lines anywhere on any beach

Now mark my words and look back at this post in 30 odd years, and we will still be looking at old bits of plastic containers washed up and blown along our precious beaches

did not mean to ofend you and i understand where your coming from but theres no point in making laws about litter if there not followed up or inforced litter control starts at home if its not enforced there it wont happen on the beach ican not see the older anglers like myself throwing litter around the place i think it would be more like the younger crowd that visit the beach for other things other than fishing so sorry if i upset you after all it was just a bit of crack or was that coke only codding like the one in the photo which if i was honest i think thats an old photo but a lovely fish non the less

Surfrod i was not laughing at what you said it was more the way coyser worded what he said, i found it very funny. No offence, i do know what your saying and agree 100%.There is a local beach down here that always is being used as a tip and it is appaling such a beautiful place can be treated so disrespectfully.Im sorry if you thought i was laughing at you

the problem of litter on all the beaches is only a problem because all the councils are only emptying bins 9 to5 monday to friday all overtime is banned so by sat afternoon all the bins are overflowing and blowing around the beach should have seen howth harbour last bank holiday sunday there was a fairground there also and on the sunday the whole place was like a tip including the water in the harbour there is just no workers at the weekend anymore

I SEE PEOPLE PULL IN TO SHOPPING CENTRE CAR PARKS AND LEAVE BLACK BAGS OF DOMESTIC RUBBISH IF THERE PREPARED TO DO THIS IN THE CITY WHAT CHANCE DOES REMOTE PARTS HAVE I DONT KNOW IF PEOPLE KNOW BUT THERE IS NO TIPHEAD ANYMORE IN NRTH DUBLIN SO IF THE COUNCIL REFUSE TO LIFT YOUR BIN FOR NON PAYMENT OF BIN CHARGES WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE LEAVE THERE REFUSE? Some people might consider that as anglers we should not be commenting on litter or illegal dumping here on this site. That it’s only angling related matters we should be discussing.
However, I’m of the opinion that illegal dumping around fishing areas and grounds directly affect every angler. Speaking to old timer anglers they tell me that we (anglers) act as guardians of our environment. We are probably the first people on the scene when this type of illegal activity takes place and it is up to each and every one of us to ensure that our angling spots do not become polluted and ruin our sport and the sport of our children.

Arrived at ennerielly COULD NOT BELIEVE the amount of rubbish
that was left on beach from the night before, that was SATURDAY 16/1/10
it was another ANGLING CLUB it had being peged out for 8 anglers
Lads if you are one of these anglers PLEASES clean up after yourselves

Has any one gone to the trouble to find out what club fished there.

I think at this stage the people or club responsable are more than aware of everbodys feelings
of there actions ,so lets hope they clean up their act .We all need to do our bit and if you
see rubbish left from other anglers pick it up its horrible to see our beaches ,piers littered
from anglers.Its our sport ,passtime lets look after it or we will pay the price ,the last thing
anybody wants are the local councils puttings up signs banning our angling
Clubs could be a good start here ,if there holding a competition they could get the last
man i.e if you have the beach marked out for 15 anglers you could get the angler on peg 15
to check the beach on his or her way back to make sure the beach is clear of rubbish ,and if he finds that an angler did not clean up after themselves that person responsable should
be penalised or diaqualifed from the compition

I love my fishing wheather it be for pleasure or competitions its a great passtime and i dont
want to lose it

slightly off topic but ill post it anyway,

about 8/9 years ago there was 2 big black bags of rubbish next to a bin in the green outside our house. as the neighbour had rented a skip my dad threw them into that.
following week the same thing happened. around the same time time too. my dad and a neighbour took away the bags andwent thru them and found an esb bill inside with the name and address of a guy in an estate nearby. they decided to wait to see if it happened angain and it did. they left the rubbish build up for about 5/6 weeks by keeping it in our shed.
eventually when there was about 12 bags there they headed off in the wee hours of the night to the scumbags house and put all the bags over his wall, ripped every bag and threw the rubbish round his garden
needless to say we didnt find another bag the following week.

what im saying is if its thrown onto the beach from over a wall, fling it back. if it lands in the wrong house, tough sh1t. the people from that house will know where it came from and hopefully give it back to its rightfull owners.

While fishing at Cahore Habour last year, a couple were walking along it. The woman began eating a chocolate bar in front of me and dropped its wrapper. When they were making their way back down the pier, I picked up the wrapper, followed them and asked them if they owned it.
She was so embarrassed, she took it from me and brought if off with them.
That's what's needed. Direct and swift action.
Shaming people who litter our fishing spots is the only way to go.
