leenan pier/Donegal 16-1-10

#1 Post by fishermannum1 »

People me al and jordan

Duration app; 3.15 to 8.00

Tide rising

Weather rough sea/strong wind

Bait mac/squid, al had other types

Rigs pulleys/two hook flappers/conger rig

Results me 1 coalie and a crab!!!!!!!

Report al and jordan were coming up to give leenan a throw and asked me to join them, at first i had to decline the offer   , but after a long day of tests (more like a MOT)
i finally got the all clear from the doc' :D so i was on the blower straight away to al' to let him know that i would be joining them for the session. al' landed at my place just after two, after a cup of coffee, a yap, and a few late xmas pressies for jordan we headed off to the pier. as soon as we got out of the cars we knew it was going to be one of those days   for it was blowing a gale with the wind blowing right into our faces. we started to get the gear out and get set up, and al' showed me jordans new bass rod, the wee man sat it on the tripod, a few minutes later the wind blew over the tripod and jordans new rod went flying over the side of the pier    al' dived to the car and grabbed a rod witch was already set up, and managed to retrieve the rod out of the water, we carried on setting up our gear when i heard something drop!!! i checked my reel and the tension knob on the side of my reel had come off   we searched everywhere but could not find the spring  all this had happened before we even got a bait in the water   i just knew it was going to be one of them days.
going by the forecast the wind was to ease up, no fecke'n chance, if anything it got stronger and colder, i got a few small rattles on one of my rods with no hook ups, then a good solid take witch i missed him on the strike  later on i got a small nod on one of my rods and landed a small coalie, then a crab. it was now 8.00pm and we could not stick the cold any longer, so we packed everything up and called it a day. was not a great day for the fishing, but it was very eventful, and i enjoyed al' and jordan's company, but apart from the mishaps, it was a day out and we had good crack...
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"

That would have been terrible for the poor kid - glad to hear it was retrieved from the sea.

Hard luck lads, one of those days you would rather forget. :( At least you got Jordans rod back, that would have been a disaster. :D Come to think of it Al,s trips this year seem to be jinxed so far. :( Hope the MOT went well.

Poor Al, nothing seems to be going right for him so far this year :( Hopefully his luck will change soon.
