salthill 16/1/10

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:myself and midget

Duration:5pm-9.30pm

Tide:HW about 5ish

Weather:SSW wind, rain but mild

Bait:fresh mack

Rigs:flappers

Results:myself:11 coalies, 1 flounder and a whiting
Midget:5 coalies and a whiting i think

Report:Myself and midget decided to give one of the beaches a go. Arrived at the mark and was straight into fish getting double shots while alex got a treble shot of coalies. Then i pulled out a flounder which i was happy about(new species) after a few more coalies we decided to try fish off the diving boards...bad bad idea! When we arrived at the diving boards we put out flappers. Then i decided to have a look around and found a funny comment written on the wall which said Eric is a gay fish haha alex took a picture which im sure he will post! Anyway we noticed it got pretty calm and the wind died down...we said this is nicer weather...then out of nowhere the winds started gusting along with massive waves hitting the diving tower and the heavest rain iv seen in a while. Alex said to grab my tripod and rod as the rest of the rods were being thrown around...i just picked the zzippy off the tripod and he said get the tripod but it was too late...it fell in and started to be moved with the current while sinking :( :( brand new Ian golds supermatch and all    We spent a while casting flappers with grippers on the end trying to get it but we couldnt find it! Anyway we carried on fishing and the fishing was useless too..we both got a whiting each and that was it. We moved back to the beach and started getting coalies again...but we were starving...alex noticed he had 20 euro so after a quick call to dominos talking to a very shocked casher the agreed to drop the pizza to the beach!! :D :D After 30 long minutes it arrived and o my god it went down well!1 Thanks again alex! We decided to finish up and alex got a coalie on his last cast. Overall an enjoyable session and it was good to be out!

Was the new rod on the tripod? Sorry to hear about the loss. It sounded like a nice enough session pizza and all but that would ruin the best of days.

A brand-new Ian Golds? That's pain  I'd be seriously thinking about asking the local sub-aqua club if anybody fancied a bit of treasure hunting practice...

It would appear so even if it is for an unusual reason! as for the tripod..it happens, glad i took the rod off i! And yes it can actually be done, you just have to persuade dominos that your actually fishing! haha

Yep, it was an up and down session. Although i was glad just to be able to get out. The mini storm was weird, and i'm glad i wasn't near the edge of the platform when the wind hit, it made me stumble forward quite a bit. And yes, Pizza when fishing was great. The conversation went something like this:

"hi, i was wondering if it would be possible to deliver to the diving tower at blackrock?"

"Yeah, that should be fine. what is your address?"

"Er, there isn't one, we are fishing"

"your fishing?"

"Yeah"

"at this time of night?"

"Er....yeah"

"..........ok so"
