this is why you have to be careful when pulling out of a snag ,best way is to point the tip of the rod where you are snagged and walk back holding the spool of the reel with your thumb.then if it does come free it wont hit you up the face.
yes and to add to beachcasters advise, dont turn your head and look the other direction while you do it, cos at least if you are looking towards it if it does spring out and at you at least you will see it coming and know when to duck!!!!
That is some lucky guy. i was at helvic pier this summer at night when some young lad who was after mackerel with feathers cast out and hit a lamp post. iwas lucky, it just hit the ground. But I had a polite4 word with him cos the weight he was using was like a block. Iv seen so many use over the top leads. "Education" is the word & I dont mind helping if I can to make a great sport safe.
