Re: youghal bridge 9/1/10
if your coming from the waterford side its the second bridge leg either side of this but fish it sea woulds not up river it fishes any state of the tide use 2 hook pat with 8 inch snoods any bigger and it will be no good for some reason cast straight out but only about 20-30 yard the fish are in close to the bridge you could drop straight down ive had some very nice cod doing this but i would use multipliers here as reeling up 60foot drop is easyer and saves on the gearstrout hunter wrote:cool have some fresh lug just on the middle of bridge ? or any other marks whats best tied

Re: youghal bridge 9/1/10
for anyone not familiar with this spot a few things to consider before ya set off in the hopes of great fishing this is a very very dangerous place to fish since drainage work was carried out on the bridge my reasons for saying this is are ya ready now this might be a long one im in one of those moods this morn
canceled fishing trip
dam weather and judging by replies on the thread the author is encourageing a keen young angler or any angler for that matter to fish here as it is a great spot with plenty of fish specimen cod
in season in numbers too
easy as ya like if only
the facts are this not my opinion but cold hard truth (1) the footpath is about the same width as the standard seat box (2) the road is the main road for rosslare ferry and heavy goods vehicles are passing by at break neck speeds every few seconds all day every day (3) the space betwen you and the side of a hgv going full belt on extremly slippy roads at present is about the same size as the average fish caught from this mark about 3 to 8 inchs (4) maybe the biggest fish you would catch and land 30 cm flat not cod this would be the space betwen you and traffic passing in single file (5) and this is the most important human life is precious and anyone that would encourage a parent to take junior fishing here is a man that obviously has no kids and if im wrong about that then they should sit back and think what an excited youth or adult would be like retrieving a trace wih heavy lead and 3small fish straight up maybe 60ft at top of tide while standing sideways to keep butt of rod off the road and the danger of being clipped by traffic now that feels better have a lot more reasons could go on forever with negative FACTS about this mark but people seriously how many people have caught or even seen with there own eyes specimen cod caught from good proven cod marks in last 5yrs let alone winched an incredible height out of the water and not just the 1 but a couple of specimen fish in one season think there is going to be a special prize for that this year thinking of sponsoring it myself a ticket to reality for the winner 1 way this a not a personal dig or me being nasty no personal insults intended just gets me a bit well ya can guess what
seriously telling someone to cast 20 30 yards without saying that they will have to swing there lead over passing cars and the gaps betwen trucks deserves a good dose of reality no fish real or not deserves the risk involved in fishing this mark plenty of safe marks that produce fish good real fish that you can take pictures of even
sorry ill stop now open to debate about any of above or if anyone needs more facts or made up good stuff about this mark just give me the nod and ill go again with more
tight lines and SAFE fishing for rest of year to all air breathing sane anglers oops off again

Re: youghal bridge 9/1/10
just had quick flick through this thread again and seriously people forget it any angler on the shore doing a bit is being plagued by them tiny cod on 90% of his trips huge numbers of tiny cod nothing huge yet or for that matter consistent big fish just looked over and saw couple of ladson bridge now its not the 80s anymore when youghal bridge had a larger footpath and cars have become a real factor not worth the danger anymore
