Bait Presentation

#1 Post by Dobe125 »

Hi All,

Stupid question time again ! I'm heading out this weekend and will be using Rag and squid as bait. What's the best way to bait the hook with the squid ? Should I cut it into strips ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

Cheers

put your rag on the usual way and cut the squid into strips, hook the strip once or twice at one end to leave the rest to flap in the tide to attract fish as well.
cut the size of your strips depending on venue and target species.i usualy use 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch long by about 1 - 1 1/2cm wide for tipping rag baits. for this cocktail i use any aberdeen hook like kamasan b940 or mustads in size 1 to 1/0.
if your after something bigger with the squid then step up your bait and hook size accordingly.
