Competition points system

#1 Post by alby »

Can someone explain/give me an example of a competition points system. I'm goin to take a few quid off my mates at the weekend but want to make sure it's all above board, also is there a minimum size limit for "counting" fish.

Any links etc. to pages explaining this would be great!!

Lots of competition fishing information available here http://www.nfsa.org.uk/ntcg/ntcg_index.htm

Look at the match pack. Mostly determined by weight of fish caught, points are difficult to determine beforehand. I did something similar with a few friends before, and just awarded points on the basis of difficulty in catching or rarety of the fish in question, so its down to where and when you fish.

A system we use for beach competitions is as follows:-
5 points per fish plus 1 point per cm in length ( e.g. Whiting 28cm = 5+28 = 33 points).
All Doggies count as 35 points plus 5 fish points ( LSD 5+35 = 40 points).
You may give extra points for rare fish plus the length if you wish.
All fish need to be measured on a proper ruler and witnessed/signed by a fellow angler (2 anglers in the case of Leinster matches). Tails can be held closed in order to get the fish to count.
The length points system has taken over from the weight system in all IFSA and EFSA competitions plus many local ones.
Good luck with the match.
