spectacular seatrout

#1 Post by doggie3131 »

since reading zekes report of his catch of seatrout,i was itching to have a go for them,i convinced john to try a spot that we had found last year, davyp was itching to get out too after a three month gap  so by 2pm myself and john were set up,and davy joined us about half an hour later just as i landed my first seatrout of the year :D a fish of about two pounds, quick photo and back he went, then john had one,a bit smaller, and soon after davy was into one, :D :D this was the pattern for the next four hours, things would be quiet for a half hour our so,and then we would all catch a fish,i ended up with five, and a coalie, john four, and davy three and a coalie, with lots of bites missed and john losing a big one in the surf, best days fishing we have had in a long time. :D john will post the pics later.

really great to get out, that was a hell of a long spell with no fishing, dont know how i managed :-)

As usual great crack with noel and john, and thanks for showing me that mark lads - I have a feeling i'll be back that way :-) really nice start to the new season, and a pretty action packed session, with plenty of bites and rattles to keep us on our toes. cant believe it was so cold the sand on the beach was frozen solid under my feet :-O

thankfully roads were gritted on the way home - there was one hell of a frost last nite.

looking forward to 2010, and hope to hell it wont be 3 months til my next session!!!!

I thought it was illegal to target sea trout during the close season.Even in saltwater.
Could anyone clarify that??

:D A fine start to the New Year lads, I admire your hardiness. I nearly prefer the sea trout to the elusive bass, they're great sport on light gear, and there's more of them 8)

According the North-West fisheries site http://www.northwestfisheries.ie/fishin ... /index.htm different areas even within the same region open at varying times, from January 1 to mid-March.
