North Wicklow 26/12

#1 Post by mitch »

People me
Bait lug /mac
tide dropping
time 4 to 7.30 pm
rigs 2 hook flappers 3/0 hooks
Results lots codling from 18 to 35 cm, 5 scholies to 37 cm ,2 flounder to 29 cm, coalies and Rockling

Leaving house wasn't expecting much to happen with slack winds from the west  But when i
arrived at beach there was a nice surf running happy days  set up the rods and got them out, at this
stage tide was about 2 hrs into the drop.
Straight from start the 2 rods were getting knocks mostly all small codling ,once darkness fell fish were comming
in steady all the time , had 1 slackliner and that was a nice schoolie of 37cm lovely fish in great condition :P
It was about 6.30 at this stage so it was time for spicebeef sambos yum yum and hot cupa coffee
the temp was dropping rapid at this stage ,over the next hr things slowed down and then the rockling started
comming on and on and on it was like plague so between them and the frost falling i hit the road
It was a nice little session and all fished were returned alive and kicking

BAIT tip lads and this works well for me for keeping lug
use a small cardboard box or 2 if u have room for them in fridge, put newspaper inside
box and spread worms out and cover with more paper.
I have kept lug for a week like this and it works a treat ,just remember to change paper at least once and take
out any blown or dead worms This also works great for rag ,i have kept them for nearly 2 weeks
