Galway rock mark 18/12/09

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:myself, kaylemf joined for a while

Duration:7.30 - 11.00pm

Tide:dropping

Weather:slight Westerly breeze, cold, snow, calm

Bait:sandeel, mack

Rigs:long and low pennel, pully pennel

Results:5 codling, 4 whiting

Report:Decided to go for the all or nothing approach putting big baits out far instead of using a flapper. Arrived at the mark and was greeted by a friendly rat sitting on my usual place, he kindly moved as i approached him. :o :o Set up the two rods and put cast them out. Was looking into the water with my new headlimp and noticed this large body swimming towards the rocks, thought it was a conger as it was about 4ft long, kept watching it and it swam right infrnt of me, it was the rats friend, a massive mink! Anyway First fish was a whiting and then i got a nice little knock on the other rod turned out to be a codling of 32cms :D got another codling next cast of 28cms. Then i got a nice little bite, left it, went again, and again so struck into it, felt heaver then the others and turned out to be a codling double on the pennel rig. :D :D got another whiting then another codling of 28 cms and another 2 whiting after that.Kaylem joined for the last hour but bites had dried up by then. Only got one picture, others were terrible quality
