Clare 13/12/2009

#1 Post by Conger »

People:ME and Bassmania

Duration:9pm to 0030am

Tide:Incoming

Weather:Baltic cold & Calm

Bait:Crab, Sandeel, frozen lug & Mack

Rigs:2 Hooks & Pennels

Results:6 Conger & 1 Whiting

Report: Decided that everything looked good, both of us hadn't been out in ages so we were itching to go. Wanted to fish a pier into the estuary that gives nice whiting but when we got there, there was already 5 or 6 lads setting up so we decided that things would be a wee bit cramped so we headed down a short distance to a marker that was given to us earlier. We both set up 2 rods, one with a pennel and the other with a 2 hook flapper. Varied the bait using cocktails, Bassmania got a great strike shortly after setting up, fish was putting up a great battle but came off :( :( . After about 30 mins bassmania took a good knock, after a few minutes of reeling his other rod took a knock so i took over dutied with fishy number 1, up appeared a lovely withing :D :D , looked over to see Bassmania with his other rod buckling, this fish was fighting hard and really did not want to come out of the water, after a short while i took over, in the distance i could see the fish breaking the surface, Conger on, lovely 7lb conger. After that we were both hitting the Eels mostly on Sandeel, We had a great short session, need to get going sooner again and also need to put the other lad on a fitness regieme over the Christmas, No Christmas pud for him this year :D :D :D . All fish were caught at distance, The weather steadily got colder through the night  wasn't too bad as i had about 10 layers of clothes under the bib and brace. The drive home was a bit hairy with fog limiting vision to about 10ft

Regards

Seamus

Hi Seamus,

Great result dude, looks like the decision to move to a new mark paid off, was planning a trip down around there for a few whiting this week but all I can do now is whinge and moan about this bug “Flu / cold” that hit me a few days ago,

They say a problem shared is a problem halved, But I don’t know about that because I told everybody about this bug problem and it seems to have got worse, :)

Someone told me I had the mann flu

Judging by the lights in the background me thinks a mutual friend may have put you’s on this mark, I haven’t tried it yet but it looks like he was right again,

Well done again on the result. 8)
