report:
Tried getting out fishing yesterday, but could not find anywhere safe on howth head to fish alone, as dust was approaching, and I was out bout lion's head, so after a nice gear laden 50 min walk along top of cliffs, I admitted defeat for the day..
Had all the bait , so got out today, drove to Kilcoole, had beach to myself... after 5 mins I realised why- WEED...
It was dumping my rigs onto the shore very quickly, wrapped in nappies of thick weed.. So I opted for the ease of Bray harbour..
there were 3 lads on the main pier when I got there , so i fished the break water side.. got bites straight away in close on the lug.... first fish out was a 3 bearded rockling- new species...
then I got some mini codling, followed by 5 bearded rockling... Took 2 doggies on the far rod with squid/sandeel cocktail..
and I hooked that little dab on the small hook of the pennel rig....
Would have been more productive had I not run out of lug, as that was gettin hammered with the bites, the mack/sandeel just got nailed by the crabs....
But was nice to get out, been locked in painting for too long
more mini species hunting, see if I can get closer to 30 before the end of year!
