innishowen sat 12/12/09

#1 Post by rab 525 »

people: me ,jc, the ghost

Venue: 3 in total

Duration:9.30--19.30

Tide: high 14.00

Weather: dry , sunny+ mod s/e

Bait: rag , lug , mack and bluey

Rigs: flappers and pulleys

Results: 50 odd coalies (lost count), speciem 3 beard rockling, pollack , 2 whiting and 1 flounder

Report: we set of to fish lenan but on arrival it was blowing a gale down the glen so we then decided to try a few new marks and explore any we came across, so we had a geek at glengad and then called at bunagee pier at 10.30 and decided to give it a throw which resulted in a decent flounder for jc which is short for jammy c**t

so after a few hours and a yarn to a local we decided to try malin head so of we went at about 2.30 and we found a couple of new marks on our travels up the coast one being five fingers strand which looked the dogs danglys and will get a throw another day , has anyone fished it or heard much about it??
ok back to malin head the place was alive with coalies even in daylight with us all getting loadsa double shots from the off and the ghost getting a 1lb 13oz 3 beard

look at that bake would ye proud as punch

so as dark fell we set up a couple conger rods but as soon as your big mack bait hit the water it had a swarm of coalies around it and as you lifted it out of the sea about 20 coalies were jumping at it so we gave up on the congers then the whiting started and i had two of them and was also getting tortured with the coalies ,the ghost started into the crabs and jc got a nice pollack.

run out of rag about 19.30 and with only a few lug left decided to head and hit the colonels diner in drumahoe on the way home.

I fish the five fingered strand in the summer, theres usually plently of plaice about, some real decent ones too, flounder can be relied on and it throws up the odd sea trout I ve heard that the odd bass is also caught but I m yet to see one, all the above can be also be caught at kinnego bay also which is a much deeper mark had one plaice there in august at nearly 3lb.
