Shock leader?

Can anyone tell me how much shock leader i should have on my line for beach casting? (i think its called shock leader, i'm new to this beach fishing lark).

hey, i use about two lengths of the rod, if your fishing off a height i would use more. But i recon about 2 rod lenghts should be good!

the general rule is 10lb for every ounce of lead so 4oz, 40lb. 5oz, 50lb. some people say to add an extra 10lb also. i usually just use 50lb as i never really go above 5oz.

Thanks, I dont have anything over 5oz so I will go for the 50lb or 60 just to be safe

with a 5oz 50lbs shock is perfect!

i use the 10lb to 1 once rule and works out fine, just use a good quality shock leader,
