Salthill 7/12/09

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:Myself and Kaylemf

Duration:3.5hours

Tide:rising

Weather:strong sw wind,dry

Bait:mackeral,squid

Rigs:portsmoth, flappers

Results: bull Huss,dogfish,whiting,coalies

Report: decided to try a mark in salthill that I thought would produce some bigger fish for a change. It wasn't long before we were in to fish, I got a treble shot of coalies and whiting in close. Then I got a nice bite at distance, thought it was a codling by the bite but it turned out to be a nice doggie/ whiting double:) then we both started to get plenty of fish in close some ok coalies to 28 cms in there too. Then I got a nice big bite in close, unsure of what it was I let the bite develop. Then I struck and brought in a small Huss :):) After more fish in close I got another doggie, decent size too! Time came to reel in the last cast I didn't get anything but Kaylem finally got his doggie and whiting double! He was after a doggie for ages so well done to him! Anyway I ended up with 14 whiting, a coalie, a Huss and a doggie. And Kaylem got 9 coalies, a whiting, and a doggie. Pictures to follow...
