New rod lads? Help please

#1 Post by aaronjunited »

Can yous advise for a new rod.

I fish all types of ground, so need an all rounder to go with my sl20sh.
Around £120

Ive seen the imax range on glasgow angling centre and i'm also looking at anyfishanywhere 6 + bait, £129 on ebay.
Just dont know what to go for, for all types of ground.

Cheers

Aaron- I use an anyfish 6+ bait- 13 foot. It is a super rod. Good for rough ground as it has a very stiff blank and strong tip. I also use an sl20 on it- a match made in heaven 8) 8) :D . It comes in fixed-spool or multiplyer. I have the fixed spool and it works 100% with my an sl20. My friend has 2 Diawa Sandstorm's. Again a cracking rod for the money you will spend (both anyfish and Sandstorm are within the price bracket you described). This differs from the anyfish as it is a very soft blank and tip. If you want an all rounder I would recommend the anyfish as I think it is better for pulling rigs out of weed. It is also great for pulling fish out of weed.

I got mine from Mid-Antrim angling supplies in Ballymena. Not sure if you have ever been there but Richard the owner is always keen to work with you on prices.

Thanks mate, i went to belfast angling centre and could afford the price of the anyfish rods, so i got an sk3, which has had reports of snaps, but i said to harry the owner, he said he hasnt had anyone come back with snaps, and if it snaps he'l replace or refund. So i was happy enough, he knocked a tenner of it too. £109 for the sonik sk3.

Yes mate, slowly but surely getting all the gear. Got my new sl20sh today aswell.
Just a seat box, and some waterproof/warm clothing and waders to go. Then i'l get another decent rod and reel maybe mid next year. Got my cheap fixed spool and cheap rod along with the dearer two.

Havent joined a club yet, was talking to a mate about joining, they aint all postives on joining, so i'm convinced on needing to join one.
