hi pookie yes mustle is a cood bait for coalies and cod if yousing them for god wrap about 4 or 5 of them together and put them on a pennal rig yes they can be frozen after collecyion the best way to do it is get them shell them all and put them in a freezer bag.i was told you could put them on the hooks of your rig and freeze the whole lot not to sure yet havnt tried it.

have used mussels from a boat caught cod and flats with them you need lots of elastic to keep them on the hook. all in all cockles are just as good and easier to keep on the hook - dont use the ones in vinegar though :P

excellent bait either used on its own or in cocktail with lug on the coastline up our way pook, especially for coalies but small codling, whiting and flounder will take it also.best used from this time of the year on i find.

I use them for whiting now, normally with squid or mackerel, but whiting will take any bait at all from my experience! But I have to say there is a great smell of it and have caught alot more whiting than the rest of the lads on a fishing session while using them, good for cod aswell.
