skerries somewere again?

#1 Post by plumster »

People:myself and brother nick

Duration:5:30pm-8pm

Tide:low and rising

Weather:nice

Bait:rag lug mac

Rigs:usual two hook

Results:4codling,1rockling

Report:

on arrival sea was bashing against the south wall with a massive southerly gale pushing it on which was ideal for this mark and first cast took in a double codling for myself 8) .then as if someone flicked a switch the gale just eased and all went calm this left a massive swell on the sea and as the tide raced in water was crashing over the wall which provided our shelter ,so had to go to the south end and take or chances caught another codling and then the rockling and then without warning the wave came that soaked me from waist down  stuck it out for another half hour but had to call it a day. bites had really died off at that stage anyway. nick had a good laugh but i had the last laugh as he caught notin

nice one on the codling and for sticking it out after the soaking thats the worst of pier walls they give you a sense of false security nice and dry one minute and splash right through to the jocks. about 15 yrs ago 4 of us were fishing on arklow harbour and a freak wave hit the wall drowned the four of us but an old guy fishing beside us ended up in the harbour two of us jumped in and grabbed him and when we got him back in all he was worried about was his abu rod and reel this was then sorted when three of us casted to the opposite side and hooked his line he thanked us and walked to his car an hour later he came back dry clothes on and 2 bottles of powers and set up again that was a real fisherman
