Bray Harbour 30-11-09

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:5pm-9pm

Tide:rising

Weather:dry but very cold, no wind

Bait:lug, mack ,squid

Rigs:2 + 3 hook flappers

Results:codling, flounder, whiting

Report:finished work early and decided to try my luck in Greystones with some bait from Saturdays session which was cut short due to lightning, rain and gale force winds   . When I got there the waves were lapping up on the steps, and there were some mighty waves crashing onto the rocks on the other side. I decided against fishing either of these spots as they would be both very slippery and icy later on,,,,,,,,,,,well thats what i thought anyways,,,,,,must be getting sensible in me old age  . Made my way onto the pier in Bray and set up down the end. I fished 2 rods one with a 4 oz wire gripper and the other with a 3 oz lead rolling around. The water was very low but starting to come back in .First cast brought me a double of a flounder and a codling, happy days , then a codling on the other rod.Plenty of codling for the next couple of hours averaging a plump 25cms, with a few doubles thrown in   .It was cold but the imax suit keeps me warm and makes the fishing pleasurable. I got another flounder and codling double later on followed by a solitary whiting which was my last fish. Nothing for the last hour, all fish were taken in the few hours around the turn of the tide. 2 x flounder, 11 x codling and 1 x whiting,,,,,,,,,,,,not bad for the last night in November,,and a cold one at that

Well done Dave,
That was a fine haul of codling. Its not their mammies and daddies you need to watch out for but the great great grandads - they would be a fine catch.
