Island Hopping South Connemara 27.11.09

#1 Post by saltydog »

People: vinnycorrigan & myself

Duration: Session 1: 15:15-16:45 Session 2: 17:30-00:30

Tide: LW @ 19:20

Weather: Dry SW/W breeze

Bait: Sandeel, Squid & Mackerel

Rigs: Various

Results: Thornback Ray & Doggies

Report: Collected Vinny and headed out to the Islands for a spinning session to start with Pollack being the target... hiked to the mark and got fishing we'd to wait a bit till the tide dropped as the rock platform still had some surf breaking over it... we had a few follows each but sadly no hook ups at least vinny has a new mark for his list... for the 2nd session we moved to another Island and Ray were the target species... after another bit if a hike we got fishing Vinny dropped a good fish on the way in more than likely a Huss while i had a double shot of Thornies first cast...next up i'd a fat female doggie 2.5lbs... Vinny got off the mark with a doggie... and followed that up with a two ray... i was getting a few Ray most were small enough including a wee baby... but it's good to see them still around. Vinny finished up with 1 Doggie and 2 Thornies, I finished up with 2 Doggies and 7 Thornies one stuck itself to my leg it was like it was giving me a hug wierd

sounds like a great session lads :D :D :D . i thought the ray would be out in the deeper water by now so well done.
i have to ask.......is a kids dummy an essential part of kit. i've never been able to get one on a rig......or is it just for when you target the babies lol......... :D :D :D
well done
i've seen dog humping a leg but never a fish
some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?

if you ever go fishing with salty, you'll figure it out quick enough

was that the wee spot i was taken to for the ray? and pity the pollock weren't biting, i'd say they would have been a good size if you landed them...
