sqiud or octopus? good session red bay

Duration:20:00-02:00

Tide:Incoming

Weather:calm

Bait:rag

Rigs:3 hook clip rigs

Results:2 cod, 3 dogs, 2 dab, 3 flounder, 1 coalie, (squid or octopus)




Report:

Fished red bay harbor, the fishing was slow to start with and last couple of hours picked up when tide was flooding.
Caught all fish on rag.
seen a nice mixture of fish and foul hook a (squid or octopus).
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS A SQUID OR OCTOPUS?
(Made some strange noises when i caught it)

Nice fishing man and i agree with the lads its an octopus alright caught one in Wicklow a few weeks ago, did it release any ink?

Yes, as said its an octopus possibly a Octopus vulgaris depending if the skin could be described as "warty" but dont quote me! Nice catch and one that you may never catch again!

welcome to the site and nice haul of fish is it my imagianation or are we catching a lot of octopuss as of late? and from the shore there seems to be a good few reported in the last few months or is this the norm?
