Started the comp 10 mins late due to not preparing the 3 reels, 1 had birds nest and no leader 1 had brittle line and no leader and the other had the braid dug in so it only cast about 15 yards......
.got one of the reels up and running and within 45 mins had landed 2 doggies 
, things were looking good. was surprised at how close in they were taking the baits. things slowed down a bit with only the odd under-sized flounder and whitting being landed. then the rod nearly came out of the tripod, thought it was maybe a double of doggs but landed a nice codling of about 36 cms (my p.b ), decent wee scrap it put up. coalies and doggs were the main catch after this. and i got my first 5 bearded rockling ever. . all in i landed 9 counters and about the same again in under-sized fish so i was pretty pleased as i had no counters in the last comp
