Galway mark 20/11/09

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:myself, cian and kaylemf

Duration:6.30- 11pm

Tide:dropping

Weather:calm, light breeze

Bait:mackeral, squid

Rigs:flappers

Results:cian: 5 coalies, 3 whiting
Kaylemf: 9 coalies, 4 flounder
myself: 1 poor cod, 10 coalies,5 whiting, 3 flounder, and a surprise :D :D :D :D

Report: Arrived at the mark, good surf with dark coloured water.Met cian there and we set up in hope off a few fish. Started off well with cian first to pull in a triple shot of coalies and whiting, while kaylem got a coalfish and i got a whiting and a flounder. A good start, so we were all in a good mood for a good session. fish were coming in most casts. i got another double of a coalie and a flounder just before kaylem pulled in a nice double shot of flounder one hitting 40 cms. More coalies and whiting were coming in untill kaylem got another double shot of flounder! Then i got a nice flounder. Baited up my flapper and cast upwind as lines were dragged accross in a matter of minutes.was just setting the rod onto the tripod
when i noticed my line was running off to the opposite side where i cast, the tip started to bounce so i struck and knew immediatly i was into a nice fish. the fish fought hard all the way to the shore, then i finally saw it, a nice sea trout! :D :D Was over the moon! Got some pictures and released it! Beautiful fish, personal best for myself too which made it all the sweater. shortly after cian got a nice bite and struck into a fish that started to take line. After a couple of minutes we saw it in the water infront of us... a nice little bass! unfortunatly for cian it spat the hook at the last minute.. he was gutted but as he is only beginning he doesnt realise what he lost yet haha fishing died down after this, i managed a poor cod while cian got a double shot of whiting in his last cast. Overall an amazing night, really enjoyed it and cant wait to go again! 41 fish in a couple of hours was a good haul so we all went home happy!

Great fishing there lads, well done. Theyre fine flatties and a seatrout to boot. Hard luck to cian on his bass  , but no complaints with 41 fish in those conditions   .
