Washing Shakespere salt smock

The Shakespere salt smock has a handwash label on it and i cant seem to get it properly claen by handwashing it.Any one have one and how do you clean it? I was thinking of putting it in the washing machine at a low temp but i dont want to wreack it.

dont use a fabric softner as this will effect the waterproofness, you can get detergent from nikwax for cleaning waterproof gear and then retreat with a water repellent after washing.

Most outdoor/camping stores should stock it, just google nikwax. I got some from the great outdoors online shop.

try hand washing it yourself, instead of getting the wife to do it :wink:

I wash my gear all the time. I only had to reproof it there at the weekend. I wash mine at low temp and low spin and hang it up to dry. I use the waterproofing wash in i got out of millets

try woolite its a safe detergent HAVE YA NO TELLY!!if you want to keep it dirty use cillit bang :lol: unless your into money laundering :mrgreen:

i think we are all missing the point here! whatever you wash it in make sure to wear rubber gloves as modern detergents can play havoc with your skin :!:
