Co. Antrim Bass Fishing

#1 Post by crazyfish1983 »

People- me and 2 mates.

Time- 9 p.m to 10 a.m

Rigs- pully, 2 hook flapper and flatty rigs

Results- Friend- 1 small turbot, other mate- one small bass and one 6lb bass, Me- blankety blank

Bait- Fresh rag

Report- Set off for a long drive to the mark we have fished countless times for bass (5/6 years without a result). Shortly after 12 the first bass I have ever seen being caught was taken- even though it only weighed about half a pound we were delighted. After a quick pic and unhooking he was back in the surf. After the boys had a few celebratory smokes (where the fish grew from 1/2 lb to 2lb  )it was back to business. Spirits were set high and so were hopes. Around 2 o'clock a well logged tripod was nearly ripped from the sand. Following what was an exciting few minutes (which probably felt like a few hours for him to be fair) my friend landed his second bass of the evening and second bass ever- around 6lb. It made me realise 5/6 years of blanking was worth every second. Needless to say my friends small turbot was overshadowed as it was about the size of a 50p coin.....
