North beach greystones 8/11/09

#1 Post by clownfish »

People:Myself ,the Coyser and mate Greg

Duration:6.30 until 12.30

Tide:Dropping and then rising

Weather:Calm sea ,mild weather with clear skies(perfect)

Bait:Fresh peeler,Mussel,Mack,sandeels ,squid and octopuss(from a passing angler)

Rigs:All sorts

Results:The Coyser 5 whiting up to 31 cm(and lost something big at the end of the night)Greg small codling and a whiting and myself 2 doggies 1 codling 41 cms over 2 lb and a BULLHUSS 37Inches approx
11-14 lbs

Report:
Met up at North beach in and around 6 oclock ,bumped into a nice lady who was collecting her partner who was out fishing for dinner  think they might have hit the chipper considering his report is just below :D nice to meet you eyes.We fished the left side mate.
Quickly set up usual banter and slagging the coyser to the left of me and greg to the right gettin it in both ears.
And down to fishing plenty of fish caught by all involved on the drop and nothing for about 2 hours with the Coyser catching big whiting with his monster casts and greg happy to catch fookin anything in his words. :)
Caught the codling with a whole peeler on a pennel rig and 2 nice doggies afterwards ,
About to call it a day with the famous last cast cliche.
I through half a mack on a 5/0 hook out back bone taken out and 3 slits each flank to give the scent trail.
Chattin away while we were packing up and Coyser looks at my line to tell its gone very slack so reeled in to my surprise to a big wallop on my rod and then more slack ,reeled in and wallop again so was reeling in keeping the rod high thinking Eyesreillys worst nightmare A CONGER.As it came closer to shore the line moving quickly left we caught a first glimpse it was big ,The Coyser its a bull Huss as it landed on the shore droppin off the hook ,a quick dash by the Coyser and a gentle push with his boot ,directing the Huss back to land.
My first time catching one measured him 37inces just over a metre and very heavy,According to the Coyser anywhere between 11-14 lbs difficult to say with no certified scales, and taking his expertise on board he caught one back in sept just under 9lbs .
Digital camera was left in the car  But got plenty of photos on the camera phones and will post when i suss that one out.
Let the beast go after our photo session and with the excitement all had one last cast this time the coyser with a monster bang on the rod, slack line and a great fight for about 10 mins but we,ll never know as he lost him in the end(big codling ,Bass,Conger????)
All in all i had a dream session and as you can probably can tell by the time of this report i couldnt wait to put the post up.ah well off to bed because i,m shattered and hopefully sweet dreams about my next adventure.
Ps
Eyes ground was very rough ,lost 2 rigs myself but would have sacrafised all my rigs for my catch tonight.
Thanks for reading
Jay

Thx Lads for the kind comments,
Still buzzing we reckon this place was only starting to come alive as we were leaving so i would say this place is better fished at night-time 3 hrs up and 3 hours down.Again only my opinion.Have had some great results in greystones in the last 3 weeks with over 10 species caught in 3 Sessions so for me it has been very a productive mark.
