firstly welcome to the site! there are plenty of marks around Galway to get you started! Salthill is definately worth a shot, over the past few weeks iv had, whiting, coalfish, conger, poor cod, dogfish, pollack, mackeral and a couple more species, as gfkelly said silverstrand has some flatties, spiddal has a mixed bag of species. There are plenty of reports from salthill and a couple of galway marks in the shore reports section so have a look! best of luck!

I think you are on the other side of the bay if you asked for North Clare AND Galway. If are near Kinvara, Black-Head is a great spot,
just head out from Kinvara, turn right at Ballyvaughan and keep going till you get to the lighthouse. Keep your eyes peeled on your right about a mile outside B'vaughan cos there is a map/sign giving details of areas and species. There is a good bait shop with a very helpful chap in Fanore a short bit up the road.
If you cant find it, give me a shout. i have a picture of it somewhere
