Results: 1 Bass 4 1/2 Lb
First report this year as I have not had a chance to fish much, we decided as we all had the Saturday off we'd go rock fishing down in slade, got there and there was a big swell, after losing a few traces we headed to a beach that I have caught bass before. There was a great surf so we baited up and cast just over a sand bank. Within about 10 mins Conor said I think I have something (this was his first time fishing in the surf) when he pulled it in it was a nice bass about 4 1/2 pound, his first bass and you could tell by the smile on his face. Fished for another 3 hours but caught nothing, load of herrings in the water tough.
Monday 9th: Me, Conor & PJ,
Headed to a beach close to home as I new the southerly wind would whip up a good surf, Conor & Pj said they would come too (even tough it was P**ing, I think they are hooked) got to the beach to find 2 lads from Dublin who had been there a while and only caught a few flaties. We threw out or rods and within 5 mins had landed a nice bass 4 lb. Stood there in the rain for another 3 hours with nothing else biting, got soaked but had a great night.
. sounds like your mates are well hooked now 
i remember not too long ago when i used to drive past the pier in the winter to see guys fishing in driving rain and howling winds
