thought it might be a whiting by the colour but after checking the cfb fish book the fork in the tail made me think it was a coalfish, any coalfish i caught before had a touch of green in them,i would be happier if its a whiting so i could add a new species for the year :D i have not caught a whiting around here before
north ballyconeelly i will pm you a map of the spot
spindlefist wrote:Well done Gerry, Nice fish there......

thanks fk,i was told that the beach was good for flounder and other flat fish and even small tope were caught there as well, looking at the beach i would say that there might be a chance of a bass as well,i will be back to it again

thanks joyster,i often looked around the pier in clifden but i always thought there might be too much fresh water around, interesting to know that the flounder were around there before,i might give it a try over the winter
i will pm you a map of where i caught the flounder,i hope to fish it over the next week or 2 and will let you know how i get on
